The field of private investigations is comprised of individuals with diverse experiences and backgrounds. Furthermore, licensed investigators are not restricted to the “Sherlock Holmes” notion of investigations. In fact, many NITA graduates choose to pursue non-traditional careers in the field. Once you become a licensed Private Investigator, the opportunities are truly endless.
As a former professional athlete and Law Enforcement Officer who has moved up through the ranks in both his corporate and athletic endeavors, SRD Bodyguard Services owner and primary Executive Protection Specialist Sean Dykes knows this to be true firsthand. After accomplishing an impressive career with the NFL (Sean has been affiliated with the New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys, Arizona Cardinals and the Canadian football WLAF, among others), Sean moved back to his hometown of New Orleans where he started a non-profit organization for at-risk boys.
Today, Sean resides in Palm Beach County, where he provides bodyguard and executive protective services to his clients. From Sean’s website: “Bodyguard and protection measures are taken to ensure the security of individuals or property who may be exposed to elevated security risk based on employment, dignitary or celebrity status, wealth or business and/or personal associations."
We met with Sean to learn his reasons for pursuing NITA’s courses:
How did you hear about NITA?
While licensure is not a requirement of my particular job, I am constantly seeking ways to enhance my skillset and differentiate myself from others in the marketplace. An attorney, who spoke very highly of the program, referred me to NITA. There are quite a few parallels between executive protection and private investigations, and I have been incredibly pleased with my overall experience with the National Investigative Training Academy.
What did you like most about NITA’s courses?
I appreciated the flexibility of the program. Because NITA’s courses are offered online, students have the ability to work more than job while simultaneously pursuing their degree. When it comes down to it, I truly believe the reputation of the program itself enhances a graduate’s marketability in the field. NITA did not disappoint.
Would you recommend NITA’s program to others?
Without a doubt, I would tell everyone to explore NITA’s course offerings. Not only does it provide a stepping-stone toward your future career, but it’s also an opportunity to network with others who have chosen a similar path. All material was easy to read and comprehend, and there weren’t any surprises on the test. For me, the return on investment has proven incredibly rewarding and I feel confident others will find the program equally worthwhile.
