Training Requirements

Governing Agency
North Carolina Private Investigators are regulated by the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, Private Protective Services Board. For additional information about state regulations, procedures, and training requirements, click here.

Licensing Laws
In North Carolina, Private Investigators must be licensed under The Private Protective Services NCGS 74-C.  To apply, you need three (3) years of experience

Continuing Education
Licensed Investigators in North Carolina are required to take 12 hours of Continuing Education every two years.  Please note that only 6 of these hours are allowed as online training.
