Investigative Student Spotlight: Ali Bornstein
We would love to introduce to you our most recent student spotlight, Ali Bornstein. As a recent college graduate, Ali graduated with a degree in psychology and recently moved to Florida with a job offer to work as a Private Investigator. In her quest for additional knowledge, Ali is at the same time, working to obtain her master’s degree in Criminal Justice. Her ultimate goal and dream job is to work for the FBI and also complete police academy training.
We took time to catch up with Ali and discuss her career and online experience at NITA. Here is a highlight of our call:
Tell us about yourself and your career path: After working with a Private Investigator in her hometown, Ali found the passion of investigations and wanted to pursue this as a career path. She loves the investigative research and adding all of the evidence gathered to compile a complete profile on a subject to determine and predict behavioral patterns.
What is the best part of working in the investigative field? Ali stated that she loves, “using her puzzle solving skills to figure things out.” The investigative field is different every day and Ali claimed she loves the challenge of starting with a simple social media search and turning all of her research and “puzzle pieces” into a full profile to help develop a subject’s behavior.
What jobs have you had already that helped develop your investigative passion? Ali stated that during the last year, she participated in a coop education program and at that point, she told us that she “knew she wanted to get more experience and that she was hooked in the field” and wanted to use her investigative experience to eventually become a police officer or work with the FBI.
What career advice would you impart to future Investigators? During her work experience to date, Ali has learned and stated that “details are important.” As in Investigator, you need to look at all details from each piece of evidence to perform a great investigation. The work is satisfying, and Ali stated, “all of the hard work will pay off.”
You have several options for online training, why did you choose NITA? Ali chose NITA's FL CC Intern Pre-Licensing Training because the training was state approved and she wanted to work at her own pace and train online within her schedule restrictions, which NITA’s online training offers.
Would you recommend NITA to others? When asked about her recommendation, Ali said, “yes, most definitely, I would recommend NITA to others.”
