Investigative Student Spotlight - Courtney Doroski
We would love to introduce to you our most recent student spotlight, Courtney Doroski.
Courtney has a strong background in working for justice for others as her career started in counseling for child abuse and domestic victims. This lead her to the police academy and then to a career in investigations, seeking justice for those who needed it. She has a love for investigating, especially, the interviewing, interrogation, and surveillance aspect of the investigative industry.
We took time to catch up with Courtney to discuss her career and online experience at NITA. Here is a highlight of our call:
Tell us about yourself and your career path: Courtney started her career in social work and worked as a counselor for domestic and child abuse victims. She loved helping others and as her career advanced, she enjoyed finding justice for others and speaking on their behalf. The “hunt was more exciting” and she joined the police academy, taking advantage of all the training that was offered to her.
What is the best part of working in the investigative field? Courtney stated that she loves “investigating and the quest for justice” during her investigations. During our discussion, she mentioned that she loved all the work in the investigative industry. Her favorite part of the field is putting together all the pieces and information to complete an investigation. Her excitement for the investigative industry comes from all the hard work. She loves “asking questions that lead to knowledge and understanding.”
What career advice would you impart to future Investigators? For new investigators to the industry, Courtney stated that remember, this is “not an overnight process – just be patient and work hard. She stated to take advantage of all the training that is offered in the industry and “learn, learn, learn !!” Courtney enjoys listening to others and stated that there is no limit to what you can do – “go for it.”
You have several options for online training, why did you choose NITA? Courtney stated that there were several options when she completed her research and she chose NITA due to the online flexibility and NITA seemed to stand out from the competition.
Would you recommend NITA to others? Courtney said, “absolutely, I would recommend NITA to a friend.” She loved the material that was presented and stated it was very thorough and felt like the training was very comprehensive, no questions were left unanswered.
