Investigative Student Spotlight - Dallas Fikar
We would love to introduce to you our most recent student spotlight, Dallas Fikar. As a recent graduate of NITA’s pre-licensing training course for Florida, he was able to complete his training on his own schedule and used his sales background and newly found training to secure a job as an investigator!
We spent time catching up with Dallas and discussing his career and online experience at NITA. Here is a highlight of our call:
Tell us about yourself and your career path: Dallas was originally from Texas and graduated with a degree in Business Administration, with a major in marketing. His career started in sales, specifically medical sales, as his clients included hospitals, imaging centers, doctor’s offices, and diagnostic centers. With the changing landscape of the medical field, Dallas decided to “pursue a career change that would be both rewarding and challenging.”
What lead you to the investigative field? Dallas told us that as a parent he preached to his kids, “find something that you love to do so it will not feel like a job.” He decided to take his own advice and jump into the investigative industry. Investigations have always been an interest for Dallas and a friend/mentor suggested the switch from the medical field to the investigative industry.
What excites you about the investigative industry? Dallas let us know that he is excited about investigations, and he stated, “I feel like every day will be different and there are so many avenues on which to decide what would be my passion. I want to find a job where I am passionate, and I am able to make a positive difference in the world.”
Any advice for those considering a career switch like you? “It is never too late to follow your dreams and goals. Do not feel like you are ever pigeonholed into a career. As Mary Lou Retton once was quoted " to truly be a champion, you must step outside your comfort zone.”
How was your online experience at NITA? “It was excellent! I was able to work for the class in my spare time as well as in the comfort of my own home. The course subjects were straightforward and interesting. When I called NITA, I was able to get a REAL VOICE and someone I can bounce career ideas & questions to and I receive great answers.”
Would you recommend NITA to others? “Absolutely!”
