Investigative Student Spotlight - Jason Smith
We would love to introduce to you our most recent student spotlight, Jason Smith. Jason goes by @investigativebooker on TikTok and has set up a unique business adventure to book mediations and appointments for attorneys. After working with several attorneys in the area, Jason saw the need for this niche business and is thrilled to assist attorneys with their appointments so they can focus on their case preparation. Recently, Jason completed NITA’s FL CC Intern Training to obtain his license and is ready to become part of the “community of investigators.”
We took time to catch up with Jason and discuss his career and online experience at NITA. Here is a highlight of our call:
Tell us about yourself and your career path: Jason stated that he has been working since he was 14 and began his career in the Health Care industry, working for a dentist and later expanding his career, working at a Human Resources Department for a large health care corporation. During his time in Human Resources, Jason learned the ins and out’s of workplace investigations and was hooked on the investigative industry and the process.
What is the best part of your career and where do you see your future? With a wealth of employment experiences to include a master's in employment law, Jason works, currently, with several attorneys and enjoys the undercover work and working with others on EEOC investigations. His ultimate goal is to become an advocate and help those in need.
What career advice would you impart to future Investigators? Jason stated to “complete a fearless search” of yourself and be objective about your career goals and “tune into that small voice” to find your calling. As future investigators, Jason said it’s never too early to start working on your professional relationships to develop your career. His advice to potential investigative candidates is to “be hungry and search for your answers.”
You have several options for online training, why did you choose NITA? Jason stated he chose NITA after having several conversations with the NITA staff. NITA’s Executive Vice President, Sandra von Eschenbach, worked with Jason and through their ongoing communications, Jason felt confident that NITA was the right choice for his training.
What about NITA’s training was most beneficial to you? How was your online experience? When reviewing the NITA FL CC Intern Training Course for Investigators, Jason commented that he “absolutely loved the course!” He enjoyed the thought of the training and loved the ability to work on his training on his own time and schedule
Would you recommend NITA to others? “Yes, the course was amazing.”
