NITA Student Spotlight: Melissa Brandt
The National Investigative Training Academy, Inc. (NITA) is committed to providing students with state-approved, enjoyable and rewarding online learning experiences. NITA’s courses allow students to accelerate their careers in the field of private investigations.
Melissa Brandt, a Mom of three adult children and a grandmother of two, found herself out of a job when her employer declared bankruptcy. For some, a career change may seem scary. Others view it as an opportunity to pursue their dreams.
After 24 years as a hospital medical transcriptionist in Michigan, Melissa decided it was time for a career change. After earning an Associate’s Degree in Marketing, Melissa took advantage of an opportunity to work as a legal assistant in Florida. Melissa, a recent NITA graduate, now hopes to use her combined knowledge as she launches her career in the field of private investigations.
We had the opportunity to speak with Melissa to learn her reasons for enrolling in the National Investigative Training Academy, Inc. (NITA):
Thanks for speaking with us today, Melissa. What motivated you to become a Private Investigator?
“My passion for private investigations was first fueled 14 years ago when I was asked by a friend to help find a child she had given up for adoption when she was 15 years old. At the time of the request, she was 38 and newly diagnosed with cancer. She wanted this child to be aware of her medical history. With only non-identifying information from the adoption agency, I was able to find her son and help a young man find his birth mother. Now, as a NITA graduate, I look forward to using my investigative knowledge and credentials to reunite more families. “
How did you first hear about NITA?
“I was first recommended to NITA by Ray Soto, a well-respected private investigator in the area and owner of i2SL, LLC. My decision was further reinforced when I found the school’s name listed on the State of Florida’s website. Ultimately, I chose NITA because of the school’s reputation and professional endorsements. The online courses were a perfect fit for my busy schedule.”
What would you tell others who might be considering a career as a Private Investigator?
“Don’t wait! It’s never too late to pursue your dreams. I would absolutely recommend NITA’s courses to others, especially those who already have an interest in the field of private investigations. I was incredibly impressed with NITA’s program and look forward to using my knowledge as I begin my career in the field.”
