Are you interested in exploring online courses for career development? Perhaps you’re interested in pursuing your studies online, but don’t know where to start? Read on to learn study tips for online learning that can help you accelerate your career!
- Be positive.
As an online student, there will be moments where you feel deflated or frustrated that you might not have a classmate nearby to help you when you feel lost. A positive attitude about learning is the best gift you can give yourself. Plus, don’t forget that a dedicated staff member will be ready and willing to support you along the way.
- Get organized—and stay organized.
Creating an orderly learning space to do schoolwork will put you ahead of the game. At NITA, all materials are included within the course and available for download online. Use your computer’s calendar for planning and scheduling, ensuring you build in ample time for your studies in between your other commitments.
- Establish a routine.
While an online school does provide flexibility, having a routine will help keep you on track with your schoolwork. Arrange your schedule in a way that doesn’t interrupt your other standing appointments. Naturally, you can vary your schedule when needed. It may take some time to establish, but you will soon find your groove!
- Set personal goals.
To make great things happen in your life, it helps to set goals for yourself. Think about what you’d like to accomplish, both short-term and long-term. Be sure to put your goals in writing and post the list where you’ll see it often. Online studies take commitment, but goal setting will help you achieve your objectives.
- Start on track and stay on track.
It’s always better to be ahead than to be struggling at the last minute! Many online programs, like NITA, allow you to break down the program into small, manageable parts. Be sure to take your time, but don’t drag your feet—make yourself do things on time, and you’ll be better off in the long run.
- Limit your time online.
It may sound funny coming from an online school, but it’s easy to get sucked into taking a “short break” from an important task to go see what’s happening on Facebook or Twitter. The next thing you know, that five-minute break has turned into an hour! Breaks are a good thing, but it’s important to limit your “digital distractions” and keep yourself on task by setting a time limit and sticking to it.
- Leverage your resources.
Online instructional tools are included in almost all online programs, so be sure to review these in great detail. These resources will be a key to success, but don’t forget the many human resources you can use: educational providers and other members of dedicated staff! A good rule of thumb is if you’ve been looking for an answer for more than five minutes, reach out for help!
