NITA Student Spotlight: Xavier P.
Last month, we featured NITA graduate Ardis W. in our NITA student spotlight. Today, we are excited to introduce Xavier Powell, a former professional basketball player and insurance expert, who also happens to be a recent NITA graduate.
More than 200 students have graduated from the National Investigative Training Academy, Inc. (NITA) since the school opened its “doors” in 2013. We recently had the opportunity to chat with Xavier about his experience at NITA and what motivated him to pursue a new career in the investigative industry.
You had several options when it came time to select an investigative academy. What interested you in NITA?
References are very important to me and NITA came highly recommended. Chris Cavallo was the individual who ultimately introduced me to your school. He said, “This is going to be the best school out there for you. They have a great program and you’re going to learn a lot.” He gave me the blue print and I made the decision to make it happen.
What was it about NITA’s program that made the experience most beneficial to you?
The curriculum was exceptionally valuable to me. I know my clients have certain expectations of me and I knew it was important that my investigative training met the same standards. The overall experience was informative and engaging – and I felt confident the information I was receiving was provided to me from a credible source.
Was the time commitment similar to what you had expected?
The luxury of pursuing the program online allowed me to graduate sooner than I had anticipated. Of course, you have to be responsible and accountable in order to ensure you’ve completed all course work properly. However, I found that if you work faster than the average student, then you should have no problem reading and synthesizing the information in a reasonable amount of time. I never felt panicked or rushed. There was no point in the program where I felt I couldn’t keep up. It was even better than I had expected.
Would you recommend NITA’s program to others?
I would unequivocally recommend NITA’s programs to other professionals who desire to take their career to the next level. For me, I’ve always had an interest in the investigative industry, and it just happened that the stars aligned in my opportunity to pursue the program. Even still, I knew I needed to take the next step on my own and pick up the phone to make it happen. I most appreciated the transparency of NITA’s program and that all expectations were clearly outlined for me. There were no surprises. Actually, the only surprise was that it exceeded all expectations.
