Times are changing, and so are the resources available for private investigators. There are a variety of iPhone and cell phone apps designed to help private investigators – or the average consumer – use their phones to gather information.
What Are Good Apps For Private Detectives?
Below are a handful of inexpensive apps to assist you with your investigating needs.
Contact Spy - Contact Spy is reverse phone number look up for U.S. phone numbers. You can also enter the name of the person you are investigating to gain additional information, but if he/she has a generic name, you may have to dig a bit deeper. The cost is $0.99.
Call Log Pro - Call Log Pro records phone calls from your cell phone. It does not begin recording until the person you are calling answers the phone. Once complete, you can email the audio file. The app is free for a two minute or less recordings. It is $4.99 for 30 minutes.
GPS Location Tracker - GPS Location Tracker can track your phone even when it’s not on. The app uses Wi-Fi and cell connections to upload information and is stored on a website in a secure server. The app costs $3.99.
Secret Camera – Secret Camera provides some additional features to your phone’s existing camera. It disables the audible clicking sound when taking a photo. It also has a “Spy Mode,” which provides a discreet preview of a tiny thumbnail in the corner of your screen. The settings can also be changed so photos will not preview on your screen causing it to light up.
Downloading the foregoing apps will not instantly make you a private investigator. You will still need to develop skills on your own, obtain a license, and go through continued education.
