Investigative Student Spotlight Elliot and Olivia Welch
Let us introduce to you the dynamic duo - Elliot and Olivia Welch. Elliot and Olivia met while working at the Sheriff’s Department and found a common interest in their pursuit of criminal justice, public service, and investigations. Elliot has recently retired and is pursuing his next adventure as a Private Investigator and Olivia is working towards obtaining her Private Investigator’s license, currently. A career in investigations for both is a true calling as they both love all that the industry has to offer. They want to use their vast criminal justice experiences to work together as Investigators and open their own investigative company one day.
We took time to catch up with both of them to discuss their careers and online experience at NITA. Here is a highlight of our call:
Tell us about yourself and your career path: Olivia is an experienced professional in government administration as she has worked in the court system, probation offices, and sheriff’s departments so far during her career. Elliot has an extensive background in law enforcement has recently retired after 20 years of service. Olivia and Elliot are making the jump to the Private Investigative field with the goal of owning their own company. Their goal of owning a family-owned Private Investigative company will allow the dynamic couple to work together as a team and provide the best possible service to their clients. Elliot and Olivia are hoping with a husband-and-wife team they will be able to provide excellent customer service to their clients as each one brings a different strength to the company.
Oliva stated that she “loves the research” during investigations and Elliot commented that he, “loves the thrill and challenge of finding the person and their activities.” By combining their talents of research and investigative techniques, Elliot and Olivia plan to offer a unique and rewarding investigative experience for their clients.
What career advice would you impart to future Investigators? Elliot stated that the transition from law enforcement into investigations is not as easy as it looks. He would advise all new investigators to practice, practice, practice. According to Elliot, he stated that “mobile surveillance is tough and it’s hard to follow a subject, practice is the key.”
You have several options for online training, why did you choose NITA? Elliot and Olivia stated that they had several contacts in the investigative industry and were networking to stay in touch with the industry trends and learned about NITA. They completed their research on NITA and determined what NITA could offer them in terms of online training. They chose NITA because it was affordable, simple, and they loved the great reviews on the website.
What about NITA’s training was most beneficial to you? How was your online experience? Olivia enrolled in NITA’s pre-licensing training and she stated that she “absolutely loved her experience.” She commented that NITA’s training kept the information interesting and prepared her for the next steps in her career.
Would you recommend NITA to others? Olivia stated, “100%, yes !!” The course had great highlights and she loved the formatting during the training which assisted with her learning experience.
