Steve Cassell has been working in the private investigative industry for more than two decades. Most recently, in an effort to train, cultivate and promote the next generation of private investigators, Cassell co-founded the National Investigative Training Academy, Inc. (NITA) in 2012.
The vision and mission behind NITA was created because the investigative marketplace was lacking a complete online investigative training resource. Prospective investigators simply did not have a viable state approved, online learning option outside of the bricks and mortar classroom. NITA has evolved into the most comprehensive online training platform available to students seeking to obtain their state-required training. Not only does NITA provide online state certification and continuing education classes, it has evolved into an investigative resource for registered NITA students who are seeking job application advice, interviewing techniques and career coaching or advanced insight into the licensing process.
Cassell is an accredited lecturer and trainer in the areas of investigative methods, fraud investigations, surveillance tactics and insurance certification classes. His lectures and trainings have reached a broad audience, both domestically and internationally, including RIMS, PRIMA, FALI, IASIU, FDLE, IRMI, AAOHN, FSAOHN, FWCI, WIC and other similar organizations.
Prior to NITA, Steve Cassell was the Founder, President and CEO of RSight Investigations, Inc. from 1999 to 2009. RSight, Inc., a licensed private investigative agency which employed approximately 120 full-time employees, provided surveillance and fraud abatement services to large self-insured employers, insurance carriers, Third Party Administrators (TPA’s) and the legal defense community. As part of RSight’ s customer contract Special Investigative Unit (SIU) program, Cassell simultaneously served as the Fraud Director for several regional insurance companies and TPA’s.
From 2008 to 2010, Cassell was twice elected as a voting board member to the Florida Workers’ Compensation Fraud Task Force. Cassell had the distinct honor as being the first private investigator ever to be elected to the board. The Task Force provides critical industry data, legislative recommendations and insight to the Florida Legislature and the Governor’s Office pursuant to F.S. 626.989(9).
Cassell is also the founder and current President & CEO of Command Investigations, LLC. A licensed investigative company employing approximately 50 full-time employees. Cassell’s investigative and business career have been profiled in several national, regional and local media publications. In addition, he is a published author, appearing in more than a dozen trade-related publications.
Cassell graduated in 1991 from Temple University located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Cassell is married with two children and divides his time between Florida and upstate South Carolina.
