Vigilant Security Unit began in Monterey, California providing services to include access control, vehicle patrol, reception/concierge, perimeter/walking patrol, temporary security coverage, gatehouse, and transition. Recently, we have added private investigative services and the company is now known as Vigilant Security Unit and Investigative Services, LLC.

We also provide biometric electronic fingerprinting with level two background checks certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and FBI.  Our Investigators have the necessary knowledge, experience, training, and skills to perform various types of investigations including cyber security, digital forensics, social media investigations, and infidelity investigations. Thomas Aiken is a career police officer and has served for over 40 years.  He currently is a Lieutenant in the Travelers Rest Police Department next to Greenville, SC.  He conducts and supervises all major criminal investigations.  During his career with the New York State Police, he worked on 100 homicides, 700 child abuse cases, kidnappings, rapes, burglaries, and bank robberies.  He also lectures at major universities on multiple major cases including a 22-year-old Cold Case Homicide he was asked to reopen in 1994.  He has a long history of trainings and has many commendations from New York, the US Attorney’s Office, the FBI, and other states.
