Course Requirements

  • Complete 20 hours of course instruction
  • 8 hours of local range time (scheduled individually and you choose a range close to your location)
  • Successfully pass the end-of-course examination with a 75% or higher score
  • Computer and Internet access with video and audio capabilities
  • U.S state or federal-issued photo identification. This will need to be uploaded to your student portal and presented daily during attendance
  • Mandatory attendance for 20-24 hours and exam completion

Course Outcome

Upon successful completion of this training, the student can apply for the Florida Security G license. NITA will issue the certificate of completion (form # FDACS 16005) to the student and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

State-Approved Curriculum

To earn your Florida Class G (armed) license, you must complete a minimum of 20 hours of classroom training from a licensed K instructor. NITA delivers the required training online in real-time, allowing you to obtain your license from anywhere in the state.

  • Meets requirements of Florida Statutes 493, 775, 776, and 790
  • Covers use of force, legal responsibilities, firearm mechanics, and safety
  • Final exam and certificate included for your Class G license application

Classes will be taught over three days, with a final exam and certificate of completion issued for your Class G License application. The remaining 8 hours of range time must be completed in person at a local firearms training facility.

Florida Security D Instructor - Firearms Instructor License # K 3500028

Ryan Burke, owner of Cornerstone Protective Services, holds multiple Florida security licenses (D, G, DI, MB, B #3000236 and Firearms License # 3500028). A Chicago native, he graduated from Northern Illinois University with a BA in Ancient and Religious History and earned an MA in Teaching from the University of the Cumberlands. He also completed Post Masters Credentialing in Applied Behavior Analysis at the University of Cincinnati.

Are NITA courses Board and State-Approved?

Yes, NITA's courses are state and board-approved by each state's licensing entity in over 35 states.  Board-approved course offerings, where applicable by state, include pre-licensing training and continuing education.

Is NITA’s training completed entirely online, or are there in-person requirements?

NITA's courses are 100% online.  There are no in-person classes or physical attendance requirements. All classes are on-demand, except for our Florida Security trainings and our live, instructor-led trainings, which are online through Zoom. Everything you need to complete your training is available through our online learning platform.

What requirements are needed to begin a course with NITA?

All students need to begin a NITA course is an email address and an internet connection! We will send you enrollment and course information via the email you provide after checkout. 
What do I receive when I complete the course?

Upon successfully completing the course and passing the exam, NITA will issue you a Certificate of Completion. This certificate is typically required as part of your state license application. Details on how your certificate is delivered are included in each course description.
Can I take a NITA course if I have no prior experience in investigations or security?

Absolutely. NITA's pre-licensing courses are designed for people entering the field for the first time. No prior experience is required. The curriculum is built to take you from the basics through everything you need to meet your state's licensing requirements.
