Course Description

To be a licensed Private Private Investigator in the state of Washington, you need a thorough understanding of the ethical standards, legal regulations, and practical business requirements that guide your profession. This program offers a comprehensive review of the topics and information you need to know to successfully complete the Washington Investigator State Exam. This examination is required for the principals listed on the Washington Investigative License.

The course curriculum starts by walking you through the application and testing processes so you’ll know what to expect. We will showcase the rules from the Washington State Department of Licensing and review the laws and statutes governing investigators to include Chapter 308-17 of the Washington Administrative Code and Chapters 18.165 and 18.235 from the Washington Revised Code (RCW).

This NITA course also features review quizzes that offer three times as many questions as you’ll find on the exam, so you can be sure that you’re retaining the information as you go. Additionally, the course also includes links to a wide array of external resources that can help you prepare for the state exam.

Is NITA’s training completed entirely online, or are there in-person requirements?

NITA's courses are 100% online.  There are no in-person classes or physical attendance requirements. All classes are on-demand, except for our Florida Security trainings and our live, instructor-led trainings, which are online through Zoom. Everything you need to complete your training is available through our online learning platform.

What do I receive when I complete the course?

Upon successfully completing the course and passing the exam, NITA will issue you a Certificate of Completion. This certificate is typically required as part of your state license application. Details on how your certificate is delivered are included in each course description.

Can I take a NITA course if I have no prior experience in investigations or security?

Absolutely. NITA's pre-licensing courses are designed for people entering the field for the first time. No prior experience is required. The curriculum is built to take you from the basics through everything you need to meet your state's licensing requirements.
